May 20th, 2013 - Day 1
Our first
day is complete here in DC and I’m feeling the way I usually do before big
things happen. I kind of always get worried because I don’t feel changed right
at the start of the trip. I always expect things to hit with like a big yellow
school bus, but I know it takes time. We had James and Jeff, two previous
homeless men, come speak with us about their experiences with homelessness. I
learned a huge way I could turn their life around and that is simply to be my
normal friendly self and strike up a conversation with them. I’m super excited
for the week and the opportunity to bond with such wonderful people on my team!
